(b. 1975 - Winnipeg, MB, Canada) uses ink and watercolor to depict a variety of delicately shaded, finely rendered human and animal characters. His odd, sometimes mutant figures are infused with a radiant innocence, romantic purity and an idiosyncratic sense of humor that elicit a sentimental feeling. Edward Leffingwell of Art in America describes, "Dzama's peaceable kingdom is a cheerfully noirish place, where knife-wielding femmes fatales, dybbuks, caped crusaders, anthropomorphic trees and clouds, dancing bears and crocodiles rollick together with lewd and murderous intent, the spawn of a culture whose parables and fables still illustrate the consequences of human folly." Dzama draws inspiration from a diverse range of sources from children's book illustrator Beatrix Potter to the adventures of the Brothers Grimm and Nancy Drew. He earned a BFA from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 1997. He has exhibited his work throughout the US, as well as in Europe and Canada. Dzama currently lives and works in Winnipeg. 2003.158
