Schumann (b. 1970 - RI), Panter (1950 - Durant, OK) This drawing is from an exhibition titled "Energy Regulation" featuring collaborative drawings by Christian Schumann and Gary Panter. PROFISH emanates a frenetic energy with psychedelic imagery spilling out across the paper in a fluid blending of the two artists' styles. The two artists refer to the collaborative process as an intuitive conversation, containing recurring themes, obscure references, tangents and an interplay of ideas. Everything from cartoon-like characters to decorative patterns to body parts flow through this tightly packed composition. Schumann earned a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute and has exhibited his work at the Whitney Museum of American Art, NY, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, among numerous other venues. Panter earned a BFA from East Texas State University in 1974 and is known as the "King of Punk Art" famous for his underground punk style in comic novels, album covers and magazine illustrations. He is also a painter, designer, and part time musician and received two Emmy awards as set designer of the television series Pee Wee's Playhouse. 2003.285
